Our class play - Lost At The Beach

One day, a little girl was lost at the beach. She shouted, “Mummy, Mummy! Where are you?”
She walked up and down the beach looking for her mum. She said, “I want my mum!”
Then, she saw a group of children building sandcastles. She thought her mum was there. She walked towards the children, looking right and left for her mum. She could not find her mum. She yelled, "Mummy, where did you go?”
Finally, she went to a group of children playing beach ball. She sobbed, “Have you seen my Mummy?” The children pointed to a lady sitting under an umbrella. The lost girl looked and saw her mum. She was very happy. She promised that she would not wander off on her own again.

National Day Celebrations - Class Activity

The next event coming up VERY soon is National Day Celebrations & we will be starting our first National Day Celebrations activity – My Dream for Singapore Project, today. The objective of this activity is to remind our pupils that even in tough times, we have the confidence as a people to reach up towards our dreams, and build a better Singapore. (ties in with the NE Message – We have confidence in our future.)

Our theme for NDP 09, “Come Together – Reaching Out, Reaching Up” draws inspiration from our Pledge. It is about our coming together as ‘one united people’, to Reach Out to all Singaporeans regardless of ‘race, language or religion’, and to Reach Up towards our hopes and aspirations articulated when we pledge to ‘achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation.’ When times are tough, we know that Singaporeans will rally together, support each other and believe that things will work out fine.

We believe that there is much to be proud of when we celebrate our nation’s independence. We hope that National Day 2009 will present us all with an opportunity to Come Together as one people, to Reach Out and support our fellow Singaporeans, and to continue to Reach Up towards our beliefs and aspirations.
You are to write about your personal dream for Singapore on the cards and return them to me by tomorrow, Fri 24 July.

Pets by Ker Xin

Mr Lim loves animals. He has three dogs and two cats at home.

One day, he was on his way to the park. He heard a weak and soft mewing coming from a drain nearby. He was curious and he went to have a closer look. He was surprised to see a small kitten trapped in the drain.

He quickly jumped into the drain and rescued the kitten. It looked weak and was shivering. Mr Lim decided to bring it home.

"Now, I have three dogs and cats," Mr Lim said to himself.

Linda's Birthday by Yan Jun

Linda celebrated her birthday last week. She invited many friends to her house. Linda's mother invited a magician to perform at the party.
The children were excited when he arrived. He was wearing a black hat and a long black coat. He looked just like the magicians they had seen on television. The magician did many interesting tricks. "Wow!!!" said the children when he pulled a rabbit out of his hat.
"Terrific!!!" they shouted when he performed another trick. The magician performed one trick after another. Everyone had a great time. They were disappointed when the magic show ended.

The Honest Ghost by Charles

Peeky the ghost is very naughty but honest. There was once when Peeky saw somebody in a kitchen. Peeky’s white coat shimmered in the moonlight. He crept behind the person, took out his yellow-green coloured torchlight, pointed it at the wall and switched it on.
The person screamed in fright. Peeky, the ghost guffawed mischievously but nothing in the house, not even the cat standing in the garden heard or saw him.
The next day, Peeky saw a factory wall and there was a hole in the middle of it. Suddenly, a small red thing dropped out of the hole. First, Peeky went to the front of the factory and he saw the name of the factory “Mr. Maker – an MP3 making factory”. Then he went back to where he saw the hole, picked up that thing, went into the factory and saw a conveyor belt that held all the things that Peeky had in his hand. He put it back on the conveyor belt and instantly after he put it back, a worker standing nearby said “Thank you” to him. He was very happy on that day because it was the first time he had shown his honesty.
Peeky is still honest till today but sometimes he may be naughty. So watch out … he may be behind you NOW!
Dear Charles,
Thank you for your submission. It is indeed an interesting story.

Cooking by Ker Xin

Farizah's mother loved to bake. Since Hari Raya Puasa was approaching, her mother decided to bake a cake. Farizah loved to help her mother.

They went into the kitchen. First, her mother beat some eggs in a large bowl. She then added the flour, butter and sugar. They turned into a smooth mixture. Farizah stood on a stool watching her mother. Her mother asked,"Do you want to help?" Farizah replied, "Yes. But what can I do?" Her mother asked Farizah to help to pour some milk into a small bowl. She said,"I will need the milk for the cake mixture later."

Farizah was glad that she was able to help her mother.

Dear Ker Xin,
Thank you for your second submission. =)

A helpful classmate by Ker Xin

It was raining very heavily. Linda was on her way to school. She was wearing her raincoat and carrying an umbrella. Along the way, she saw Brenda using her school bag to shelter herself from the heavy rain. Brenda did not have an umbrella and she was getting wet. Linda shouted, ''Brenda, wait! I can share my umbrella with you.''
Brenda was very grateful to Linda for sharing her umbrella. When they arrived in school, Brenda went to the general office to change into a set of dry uniform. Brenda and Linda became best friends.
