Latest Updates on Global Influenza A(H1N1-2009) as of 27th June 2009

Dear pupils,

I will be calling your parents to ask about your Travel history during the June holidays.
If your parents have not received the Travel Declaration Form and a letter sent by the school by tomorrow evening, please ask your parents to call me ASAP. (The soft copy is available at the school website at http://www.hongwen.moe.edu.sg/)

Some information that I need to gather from those who have travelled during the June holidays.
1) Which country did you visit?
2) When did you travel?
3) When did you arrive back in Singapore?

If you are unwell (if you have fever, sore throat, cough, runny nose, headache, etc) and has travelled to an affected country ( Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Dominican Republic, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Panama, Philippines, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom and United States of America) and is not feeling well, “Please ask your parents to call 993 for medical assistance. You should also stay at home until you are fully recovered. Please do not go out e.g. shopping, for meals, take the MRT or socialize with others until the doctor tells you that you are well.”

If you have travelled to affected countries and arrived in Singapore on or after 22 Jun 09, you will be issued with an LOA (Leave of Absence) for the next 7 days from the date of return to Singapore. During this period, you will stay at home, and the school will make arrangement for you to catch up on your school work. You will monitor your health and update the school on a daily basis. Your parents may have to arrange for the Travel Declaration Form to be returned to the school, or bring it back after the LOA period.

Reminders:
(1) Parents / pupils who have not travelled to affected countries are to submit the Travel Declaration Form on the first day of school.
(2) You are to bring a working thermometer to school every day.
(3) You are to bring their Di Zi Gui for Pre-morning Assembly.

Updates on Influenza A(H1N1-2009)

Dear pupils,

If you have been countries that have been considered by WHO to have sustained community transmission or to be in transition towards community transmission, as well as countries that have been reported to have exported cases (ie. Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, Dominican Republic, Japan, Mexico, Panama, Philippines, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States of America), you should immediately call 993 for medical assistance if you feel unwell within seven days of arrival. If you are feeling unwell, you should avoid travelling and should not engage in extensive community activities such as working, shopping and participating in mass activities.

When you are back, pay close attention to your health for 7 days, watching out for symptoms such as :
• High fever (> 38 deg C)
• Sore throat
• Cough
• Body aches
• Runny nose
• Headaches
• Tiredness

If you have any such symptoms, you should call 993 promptly for an ambulance. You should avoid taking public transport or taxi to minimise exposure.

A tribute to all daddies...

Dear pupils,

It is Father's Day this Sunday, 21st June 2009. As Father's Day is around the corner, do take some time to reflect what your dad has done for you. Do take some time to leave some comments and tell me about your wonderful dad. I would love to know more about him. However, do remember that you should not be nice to your dad only on Father's Day. Always tell your dad how much you love him and thank him for all the love, care and concern. To all the daddies of the pupils in 1 Kindness, I wish you a very happy Father's Day.
